6 Awesome Benefits to Hosting a Podcast

So many benefits to hosting a podcast...

So many benefits to hosting a podcast...

Having a podcast provides unexpected value for my business. When I first started out, I figured I’d be able to reach a new audience and have them become part of my community. As I went along, however, I discovered there were so many more benefits to podcasting for my business than I first realized.

If you’re considering hosting your own show, but are still hesitant, I invite you to ponder the following benefits. Sure, it’s challenging at the beginning, but after a few shaky episodes in the can, it’s smooth sailing.

Get going! The world needs your voice.

  1. Podcasting helps you get clear on your messaging.

When I first started recording episodes, I spoke in a  general way about how to help women in business. As I recorded more episodes, I got clearer on what I like to talk about, and what resonates with my audience: productivity, goal setting, and beating procrastination.

Getting clear on your messaging, also means getting clear on your offer, getting clear on the value you bring, and getting clear on the benefits you provide for your clients. This clarity in your business is gold!!

  2. Podcasting makes you get comfortable using your voice and speaking with intention.

Many women learn to stifle their opinions, question their own authority, and prefer to stay quiet and in the background. A podcast encourages you to speak your mind. You get to stand up for what is important for you.

With the power of a microphone in your hand, you boldly speak on what you’re passionate about, and claim the role of an expert in your field.

  3. Podcasting encourages you to pass the mic.

If you’re recording a show where you interview people, you have the opportunity to pass the mic and amplify voices of Black Women, Indigeneous Women, and Women of Colour.

Diversifying your guests brings powerful perspectives and points of view.

  4. Podcasting is a great way to find your ideal clients.

When you’re talking about the pillars of your business and the subject matters that excite you, your ideal clients are going to become familiar with your voice, your style, and your points of view. This will build the Know, Like, and Trust factor towards you and your business, and is a wonderfully organic way to reach your ideal customer.

  5. Podcasting helps me repurpose my content.

From each episode, I turn that content into my weekly blog, a Live Training Video for my Facebook Group, Pins for Pinterest, an article for Linked In, and social media posts for Instagram and Facebook.

Since all of us benefit from hearing messages repeated until we’re compelled to take action, being able to use the same content in different mediums is an unexpected benefit of podcasting.

  6. Having a podcast means the opportunity to make mistakes, and move forward.

If you’ve committed to having a weekly podcast, you record whether you’re 100% ready or not. You do the best you can, and then hit publish. It makes you bypass your perfectionist tendencies and say: “Good enough”. Your podcast does not have to be amazing right from the beginning. Just get started, and improve as you go along.

I can’t wait to hear what you have to say. Speak up!
